The Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN) hosted the second edition of its annual event; the Lagos Tourism Roundtable on Thursday November 23, 2023 with the Theme; Diaspora Tourism: An Untapped Niche in Lagos State.

Chief Olawanle Akinboboye, Chairman of La’Campagne Tropicana and Beach Resort is the guest speaker. The tourism guru in his speech emphasized the need for government to create enabling environment for Diaspora Tourism because that’s the future of tourism.

In his words, “no country in the world has ever developed without the diaspora. This is the reason why I came back and entered the bush at age 27. My aim was to begin the tourism revolution here in Nigeria and spread it across Africa. I thereafter established SET that stands for Security, Entertainment and Tourism and that, I’m sure, will revolutionize tourism in our continent”, he boasted.

In his contribution, National President of Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria, Chief Abiodun Odusanwo (FITPN) said diaspora tourism include those that reside abroad and those who were there but decided to relocate back home. There experience he said, was the needed instrument for the growth of tourism.

Earlier at the event, ITPN Lagos State’s Chapter and main organizing committee Chairman, Dr. Babatunde Olaide-Mesewaku (FITPN) described diaspora tourism as an unarguable “future of tourism along the West Coast of Africa of which Nigeria occupies very strong position”.

The National Vice President (South/West Zone), Otunba Ayo Olumoko (FITPN) commended the effort of the one-year old State chapter at sustaining the Lagos Tourism Roundtable discussion.

Among the newly inducted members were the Heads of Tourism Units in all the 57 Lagos State Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas and many others within the tourism ecosystem.

Victory emerged winner on Sunday July 16, 2023 as announced on the show. He closed off the season with a performance of Blessed by Wizkid.

The season eight edition of the show started Sunday April 23, 2023 and ended Sunday July 16, 2023.

EKO NAFEST 2022: Kasali Hails Sanwo-olu As Lekki Thrills Audience With Imale Akalagunle

The Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area, Hon. Rasak Bamidele Kasali (RBK) has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu’s efforts at developing and promoting tourism in Lagos State.

The Council Mayor made the commendation while congratulating Governor Sanwo-olu for the hosting of year 2022 National Festival of Arts and Culture tagged; Eko NAFEST 2022.

Lekki Local Council Development Area’s cultural group contingents to the annual event under the auspices of National Council For Arts and Culture (NCAC) was one of the highlights of the opening ceremony on Wednesday November 8, 2022 at the Mobalaji Johnson Sports Arena, Onikan Lagos.

In his official opening declaration, the host Governor, His Excellency, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu admonished Nigerians to see the differences in our tribe, religion and culture as blessing rather than a curse to the nation.

The presence of Lekki LCDA’s Imale Akalagunle and their performance at the opening of the weeklong event which will climax on Sunday November 16, 2020 was a pointer to the unalloyed support of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Rasak Bamidele Kasali (RBK for real) for the development of Tourism as the Fifth pillar of Governor, Sanwo-olu’s THEME agenda.

According to RBK, “ours is a community based tourism and its development will surely guarantee prosperity for our people. We all know the spiral effect of having a Tourism event, monument, relaxation centres and cultural festivities on the local economy. This is why we’re queueing behind our Governor on his resolve to raise the bar of attention given to tourism development in Lagos State”, he said.

Special guests at the opening ceremony were His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu, His Deputy, Dr. Babafemi Hamzat, Ooni of Ife, His Imperial, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja ll), Lagos State Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashir Obasa, Director General, National Council For Arts and Culture, Segun Runsewe and others.

Participants at the event are contingents from the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory while Lagos State as the host was supported by the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas.

Kizz Daniel’s ‘Buga’ video hits 2.2m views in 24 hours

Twenty four hours after the official release of the video of popular song , “Buga”, by Oluwatobiloba Daniel, popularly known as “Kizz Daniel”, it has hit over 2.2 million views on You Tube.

Kizz Daniel announced the release of the visual of the song on his verified Instagram page on Thursday, saying, “Wow!! 2m in 24hrs THANK YOU WORLD VA’22 #BUGA.”

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the popular song, featuring “Tekno” has taken the world by storm and has been trending all over the world since its release.

The song writer and singer also said that the audio of Buga, which was released in May, had recorded 17 million views on TikTok.

Daniel had earlier gone on a musical tour to Manchester, London and Birmingham with his audio song, BUGA, prior to the release of the video.

Kizz Daniel is scheduled to move to Gambia on June 25 and further make an Afroclassic tour to 10 states in the United States of America in July.

Before the release of the video, Daniel had gone on tour to eight African countries and the song became number one.
