Hon. Muibi Alade Folawiyo, the new Executive Chairman of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area was sworn-in together with his Deputy, Alhaja Monsurat Oluwatosin Balogun by the State Governor, His Excellency, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu on Tuesday July 27, 2021 at the State Secretariat, Alausa Lagos.
Hon. Folawiyo popularly called ‘Pepper’ by his supporters equally sworn-in the 10 elected Hon. Councillors at the Council Secretariat on Broad Street, Lagos Island in the presence of past Chairmen, party leaders, supporters, family members and Well-wishers.
The Councillors are; Hon. Bankole Dada Nurudeen (D1), Hon. Babalola Oyindamola (D2/D3), Hon. Lookman Ademola Ojutiku (E1), Hon. Dosunmu Issa Adesanya (E2), Hon. Balogun Sikiru O. (E3), Hon. Oginni Olabode (F1), Hon. Alli Balogh Babajide (F2), Hon. Williams Olakunle (F3), Hon. Ojora Shamsideen O. (G1), and Hon. Giwa Mazeedat F. (G2)
In his speech, Folawiyo who was full of gratitude to God, party leaders especially his predecessor, party members and the good people of Lagos Island East LCDA for their trust, support and contributions to his emergence as the Mayor of the Council pledged to carry the leadership banner untilted but to the best service of his people.
At the event, the immediate past Chairman, Comrade Kamal Salau-Bashua was joined by other predecessors to decorate Folawiyo with the chain of office. He was also presented with the Hand-over note together with the Green Pen of Authority.
In her welcome address, the Council Manager, Mrs. Usman Folashade congratulated the Chairman, his vice and all the elected Councillors. She prayed for a successful tenure of office while assuring the Chairman and his team the co-operation and support of all management and staff members of Lagos Island East LCDA.
On Wednesday July 28, 2021, Folawiyo proclaimed the 5th Lagos Island East Legislative Council. This was followed by the nomination and elections of the Council Leader, his Deputy and other principal officers who are; Hon. Olakunle Williams (Leader of the House), Hon. Olabode Oginni (Deputy Leader), Hon. Mazeedat Giwa (Majority Leader), Hon. Nurudeen Bankole (Deputy Majority Leader), Hon. Shamsideen Ojora (Chief Whip) and Hon. Oyindamola Babalola (Deputy Chief Whip)
